Hi all! I am Lex, better known as @stormandstars on Instagram or for my blog stormandstars.net. I was so excited when Mely asked me to be a part of her holiday nail art challenge! I have seen some wonderful nail art during this challenge so far and I do hope you enjoy what I have for you. My prompt for the challenge was Rudolph! I love creating abstract nail art from more concrete ideas, so when I got Rudolph as my prompt one of my first ideas was to make some abstract nails based on my all time favorite Rudolph movie with the Island of Misfit Toys. I knew I wanted to include some of the toys so I started with the spotted elephant, the dolly and the water pistol that shoots jelly and then added in Rudolph himself and his girlfriend Clarice. I had so much fun doing these simple interpretations of the characters. I want to give you a brief description of each nail. Thumb: I started with a white base of Cult Nails Tempest and then added some freehand jelly spots with Nvr Enuff Polish Blackberry Wine (Yum!) Index: I started with one coat of Jolie Polish White Crelly, then added some random dots for the elephant's spots using Nvr Enuff Polish Unicorn Bait, one more coat of White Crelly and more dots, then a final coat of White Crelly and a few more dots for a layered look. Middle: I did three coats of Liquid Sky Lacquer Pure Luxury and then painted a clear crystal red with Colors by Llarowe The Mighty Red Baron and glued it to the nail to represent Rudolph's nose. Ring: I painted on two coats of Lacquer Lust Butt Booty Naked and then Added Clarice's bow using Wet n Wild Red Red, Cult Nails Tempest and Colors by Llarowe The Mighty Red Baron and a small brush. Pinkie: Again, I began with two coats of Tempest, then I stamped over it with Mighty Red Baron using my MoYou London Hipster 05 plate for the Dolly's plaid dress. I stamped again with Tempest and my MoYou London plate Kaleidoscope 09 for the lace on her collar. Whew! So much for brief! I'm super happy with how these came out and I'm so glad that Mely asked me to be a part of the challenge this year! I really enjoyed putting these together for you all! Make sure to check out all the manicures from this challenge using #12DOCC
Thank you Mely! Have a wonderful Holiday to everyone celebrating! xoxo, Lex
