Today I have for you some mani recreations of some of my favorite dresses of the 2015 Academy Awards this past Sunday night. Photos of Reese Witherspoon, Naomi Watts, Giuliana Rancic, and Jennifer Lopez from Eonline.com taken from here. We are avid movie-goers, and we really appreciate all of the work that is put into creating, directing, and editing a movie. So many people are involved in the process, and the Oscar's are a great way to showcase those talents. It's great to take home the win, but we believe everyone nominated is deserving of the title. So.. besides the awards themselves, I just love watching the fashion! I love seeing all of the beautiful dresses worn down the red carpet! I picked four of my favorites to recreate for you all today. Of course, there were many more I absolutely loved, like Jennifer Aniston (nice anytime we get to see her out of black), Gwyneth Paltrow, Nicole Kidman (yes, I loved her dress), and even Anna Farris. For this little project, I wanted to focus on looks that were simple and not too difficult to achieve. I feel these manis show how it doesn't have to be perfect in order to look the part. First I have a recreation from Jennifer Lopez in Elie Saab. i think she looks so beautiful in this color, and the dress is fairytale like. In my personal opinion, there's too much cleavage showing, but again, the dress is still beautiful. I went with a nude color, one as close to my skin color as possible to match with the whole one tone theme. I used INM Nails Exposed. Then with acrylic paints I did light strokes in brown, then added the little spots for tiny flowers. In retrospect, I should have added a bit more flowers. I also added a tiny bit of holographic silver glitter to represent the crystals and pearls in her dress. I used Butter London's matte top coat as I thought this would look better matte. Next I have a recreation from Naomi Watts in Armani Privé. I loved this the moment I saw it! That dress is gorgeous, and something I would love to own myself! For this mani I used Bonita Colors Dream Wonderland, a silver high metallic polish and then drew almost straight lines and added detail with black acrylic paint. If you closeup on her dress you will see that it is all beadwork... amazing!! Next I have a recreation from Giuliana Rancic in Mireille Dagher. I always love Giuliana's clothes, but this dress is just so amazing! I love everything about it! For this mani I used all acrylic paint and a small liner detailing brush. I promise you, it's not hard. I took two different shades of red, a regular red and a "brilliant" red. The regular red I mixed with a little black to create a darker red color, and then I just drew on the "flowers" adding different colors to different areas until I was happy with the result. Then with very thinned out red, I drew the crosshatch pattern. I used Butter London's matte top coat as I thought this would look better matte. Lastly, my favorite dress of the entire night, and coincidentally also my favorite mani, is a recreation from Reese Witherspoon in Tom Ford. Such a gorgeous dress! I really loved the simplicity yet boldness. I noticed the color of her dress was like a pale, almost white, blue? Did anyone else notice that? I love it! Anyways, I chose to use my Illyrian Polish Zombie Star as my base, since its a beautiful white with a bit of green shimmer. Then I drew on the stripes with black acrylic paint! I really love this look, and wish I had done this look last, so I could've kept it for a few days. What was your favorite look from the Oscar's? Who was your Best Dressed? Comment Below! Thank you so much for reading. i really enjoyed doing these manis! <3 Mely Photos of Reese Witherspoon, Naomi Watts, Giuliana Rancic, and Jennifer Lopez from Eonline.com taken from here. Rosamond Pike was another one of my favorites! Her dress was so gorgeous! I only chose to create Guiliana's instead because I thought it would be better to translate into nail art!
