Hello Friends! Today I have part of an exciting, new collection being released by KB Shimmer for Summer 2016. I have 6 of the 12 shades that make this collection for you today. Bonus: I also have my thoughts on their base coat, top coat, and on the limited edition mani shot for the summer. Firstly, I'd like to say thank you to the KB Shimmer team for sending me these products for review. I have been familiar with this brand since I started my nail polish journey in 2012, however, I had never really learned how the company started. If you haven't already, check out the story here. I really enjoyed reading the journey that led to the creation of KB Shimmer. This collection consists of 12 shades, in which there is a variety of formulas and finishes. From the 6 that I received, It was hard to pick a favorite... up until the last one :) KB Shimmer: Ready for a Good Lime I am unbelievably happy to have this polish in my collection. This is a pastel neon lime green, and I am in love with this color. The formula was thick, and didn't self-level as much as I would have liked it to, but it was not difficult to work with, nor was it goopy or gummy. The polish was still very creamy and easy to apply. Shown is two coats plus top coat. KB Shimmer: Playing With the Buoys Another gorgeous pastel color. This blue reminds me of China Glaze Re-fresh Mint with a dash of For Audrey. This color is very soft, beach-y, and interesting how it is a green mint with blue-grey undertones? I am in love with it. This was another thick cream polish, but it self-leveled really well. No problems noted with application and it applied smoothly. Shown is two coats plus top coat. KB Shimmer: That's Nude to Me My goodness! This polish took my breath away. The color is such a mauve-y nude, with some gold shimmer and of course, some linear holo. So stunning. Formula was perfect, smooth, easy to apply. Shown is two coats plus top coat. KB Shimmer: Along for the Tide This is a bright blue polish with blue-purple shifting shimmer, and a subtle linear holo. This polish has some depth with the different glitter going on. Formula was wonderful, smooth, and easy to apply. shown is two coats plus top coat. Here you can see a bit of the purple shift in the polish, which was hard to capture. It definitely is more like a sheen. KB Shimmer: Neon Me WOW!!! I am soooo in love with this polish! This white crelly has small neon dots in blue, pink, yellow, orange, purple, and green. Also has micro dots in neon purple, pink, blue, and purple. This is really a soft white crelly. If you want a bright white background, I would recommend using white polish as your base. The formula was easy to work with, but careful application is recommended for even distribution of the glitter. Shown is two generous coats, plus two coats of top coat for a smooth finish, as the polish dries down smaller than the glitter. KB Shimmer: One Night Sand So, as I was swatching these polishes, I kept thinking, "I really don't think I will have a favorite in this collection. I love all of them." Then I tried this on. In my mind I left it for last for a reason, I feel like I knew it was going to be a stunner. This is a copper-rose gold metallic flakie polish, with a pop of holographic sparkle. Two easy coats plus top coat for this beautiful polish. I can't wait for you guys to buy this and see it in person. It is one of my top polishes EVER! I decided to add this photo below, which is under different lighting, so you can see the reflectiveness that these flakies have... and, all those flakies have such a brilliant sparkle! This is it, as far as my swatches, There are a couple more from the collection I'd really like to get my hands on, so I can't wait for the release :). KBShimmer’s Summer 2016 Collection will be available June 1st and will retail for $9.25 each at KBShimmer.com, Amazon.com and select salons & retailers. I also received KB Shimmer's Fillin' Groovy Base Coat, and Clearly On Top Quick Dry Top Coat. I chose to do a wear test on these, and I was really impressed. For the mani, I used all KB Shimmer products. I used one coat of base coat, 2 coats of each polish, then one coat of the top coat. For longevity, I have a nail prep routine I like to do when I want polish to last as long as possible. For this mani, I only washed my hands with soap and water, then allowed them to air dry before starting. I did my mani on a Thursday, late night, and removed on a Tuesday evening. That means 5 whole days of wear, As you can see, there is very little tip wear showing on the mani. Okay, well, while I was cleaning on Sunday, I opened screen door leading to my back yard, and a bug flew onto my left arm, causing me to instinctively jerk my arm back, which led to my hand (or should I say middle fingernail) jam into the door. It was painful, and I thought I had broken my nail, since it bent all the way down. Thankfully, the polish had only just cracked, and my nail was safe underneath. I left the polish alone, since I was doing a wear test, but on Monday evening the crack in the polish had already grown. Since the polish on all the other nails was still going strong, I decided to add a bit of top coat to the damaged area, to preserve the remaining polish. That is what you see below. To say that I received compliments while wearing this mani is such an understatement. I was continuously getting compliments throughout the day at work, by strangers, and by my friends and family. I have a cruise vacation coming up in July, and I as of now, I am planning on recreating this! I also received a limited edition Mani Shot in the scent of Margarita Lime. I completely forgot to take photos of the mani shot, as I was too excited to use it, so I went straight for opening/destroying it.. Thankfully, I do have before and after pics. I followed the instructions provided in the website. Once I opened the mani shot, the aroma of tangy lime was instant. It fizzed in the warm water for about 30 seconds, then I soaked my hands for 10 minutes. I then, rubbed my hands together to distribute the oils, and then dabbed my hands dry. I can say that the mani shot was definitely fragrant and on-point with the description of the scent. Personally, I have realized that mani shots are probably not my thing. I am too impatient, and 10 minutes seemed like an eternity to me. I know this has nothing to do with the product, but it was my first time trying any mani shot, and I was surprised at how much I actually didn't care for the experience. I can say that the scent stayed on my hands for a while, and I quite enjoyed that aftermath. :) This scent will be available in the form of mani shots, lotion, and sugar scrubs. I really hope you enjoyed this post! Thank you very much for stopping by!
