I think everybody has seen the stop motion animation movie Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer by Rankin/Bassis from the 60s.  What you might not know is that the movie scares the the pejeepers out of me.  I swear if I close my eyes I can hear the whistle of Rudolph’s nose like he was in the room with me.  So I had to laugh when Mely asked me to take part in her 12 Days of Christmas challenge and my theme was ‘Rudolph’.

After much sketching, I decided to do some candy cane French tips to start.  I was originally going to do the tips on all my nails and Rudolph on my accent finger.  BUT … as I was painting the tips I decided it would be cute to have Rudolph peeking over one of the tips.  I had seen a cute Christmas card that had an image similar so I knew what I wanted to do it was just a matter of executing the idea.

The polishes that were used for these designs include Colour Gossip Saved (white), Back Stabber (red), Hope is Golden (gold), and Motives Emerald City (green).  For Rudolph, I also used Colour Gossip Busy Body (dark brown), City Chic (light brown), and Swipe The Card (black).  I used a red gem from Simply Spoiled Beauty and Glossy Glam as my top coat from Rica.

In retrospecct, I should have made the French tips a little shorter so I would have had more room for Rudolph, but I really liked the look of the deep tips.  For all of you with long fingernails you are set!

I hope you all liked this one (even if he does look a bit like Fozzie Bear dressed up as a reindeer).  I have to admit it was fun to paint this one, even if I did have a panic attack at the idea of Rudolph lol!  I filmed this one too so if you are interested in the tutorial for this design, please visit: http://youtu.be/hBzpNY-DGn4
