Hi, everyone! I'm Nicole of majikbeenz.com (also majikbeenz on IG). I am thrilled Mely asked me to do a guest post for her 12 Days of Christmas Challenge. (Thanks, Mely!!) The theme we decided on was snowmen... and I *LOVE* snowmen! My entire house is decorated with them at Christmas time. I also love to read "Snowmen At Night" by Caralyn Buehner to my kids at this time of year, which was the inspiration behind this mani. I wanted to do something a little more detailed for this, so I broke out the acrylic paints. I started out with a polish base using "Gray by Gray" by Sally Hansen. This polish is super-saturated and is almost a one-coater. I thought the color was perfect for a snowy night sky... gray with just a touch of blue. I wish I would have taken photos while I was doing these, but I was so focused that I barely looked up the whole time I was painting these. :-) I hope a step-by-step description will help you understand the process though. I started with the background, adding the snowy hills in shades of gray and silhouetted trees in black. Then I added the stars in bright white. I'm so happy with how my little shimmering stars came out. I wasn't sure I'd be able to paint a line that thin, but it came out just how I wanted. (Thank goodness for my Pure Color Glamour No.1 detail brush!) After that, I added the basic snowman shape in off-white and added a little dimension to the sides with the same shades of gray I used in the hills. After I painted in the details (faces, hats, scarves and mittens), I topped everything with Zoya's Matte Topcoat. Here is a closer look at my middle nail. Isn't he cute? :-) I am so happy with how these came out. I hope you like them and will possibly give something like this a try sometime. Thanks again to Mely for asking me to do this post. I had so much fun painting these little guys. :-)
Happy Holidays to all of you and best wishes in the New Year! XO, Nicole
